Short answer: Vervoe does not publish prices anymore. The pricing page on vervoe.com says "Pricing built for skills-first hiring at scale" and offers a single "Request pricing" button that books a sales demo. Contract data from Vendr, drawn from more than five completed deals, puts Vervoe at $1,300 to $17,000 a year with an average of $9,892. The $19-a-month Pay & Go and $250-a-month Growth plans you will still see on Capterra and other directories are legacy self-serve tiers that are no longer sold from Vervoe's own site. If you are pricing Vervoe for a small hiring team, this page lays out what the number will probably look like, what drives it, and what the same job costs on a tool that does not need a sales call.
Vervoe pricing plans in 2026
Vervoe repositioned itself as an enterprise skills-based hiring platform, and the pricing page now reflects that. There is no plan table. The page lists the capabilities (AI-graded skills assessments and simulations, ATS integrations, SSO, regional data storage, uptime SLAs, priority support) and then sends you to "Talk to sales." Everything below the enterprise line is quote only.
What makes Vervoe pricing confusing is that three different generations of numbers are floating around on the review sites, and none of them is labeled with a date.
| Source | What it shows | Status |
|---|---|---|
| vervoe.com/pricing (vendor) | No prices. "Request pricing" only, enterprise features listed | Current |
| Capterra listing | Pay & Go $19 a month (2 assessments, 3 users, capped candidates, Zapier), Growth $250 a month (4 assessments, 6 users, ATS integrations, bulk actions, data exports), Enterprise custom (API, unlimited assessments, uncapped candidates, Workday and SuccessFactors) | Legacy self-serve tiers, not on the vendor site |
| Xobin review | Pay As You Go, $600 for 50 candidates, with packs for 10, 30, 50, 100 or 500 candidates; 7-day free trial | Legacy candidate-pack model |
| Vendr contract data | $1,300 minimum, $17,000 maximum, $9,892 average per year | Current, from signed contracts |
The practical reading: if you are a company with an ATS, a recruiting team and a few hundred hires a year, expect a quote in the Vendr range. If you were hoping for the $19 tier, it is a directory artifact. Ask the sales rep directly whether any self-serve plan still exists; as of the current vendor page, the answer appears to be no.
How much does Vervoe cost per year?
Using Vendr's figures, a typical Vervoe contract is about $10,000 a year, and the floor is roughly $1,300. Vendr notes that its customers "typically secure a lower price than what is listed" and that the biggest levers are multi-year commitments, end-of-quarter timing, and agreeing to be a case study. Vendr does not publish an average discount for Vervoe, which usually means the deal sample is small, so treat the range as planning guidance rather than a rate card.
The quote itself moves on four things, based on how the legacy tiers were structured and what the current page emphasizes:
- Candidate volume. The old plans capped candidates per assessment and the old packs were priced per candidate ($600 for 50 is $12 a candidate). Volume is still the main input.
- Number of live assessments and users. Pay & Go allowed 2 assessments and 3 users; Growth allowed 4 and 6. More open roles and more hiring managers means a higher tier.
- Integrations. ATS connectors on Growth, premium Workday and SuccessFactors connectors plus API access on Enterprise.
- Enterprise controls. SSO, regional data residency, an uptime SLA and a dedicated client executive are the items the current page leads with, and they are what pushes a contract toward the top of the range.
What Vervoe does that cheaper tools do not
It is worth being fair about why a five-figure Vervoe contract can be the right buy. Vervoe's core product is the work simulation: a realistic task for the role, graded by AI models trained on how the hiring manager ranks earlier responses, so candidates are ordered by demonstrated ability rather than by resume. For a company hiring 200 customer support agents or 50 sales reps into the same role, that AI ranking is the product, and the ATS and SSO plumbing is what lets a recruiting team run it at volume.
Vervoe also grades open-ended and multimedia answers with AI. If you need that at scale, with a validated ranking model and an audit trail, you are shopping in Vervoe's category and should also look at TestGorilla and Testlify, which publish their prices.
When Vervoe pricing does not make sense
Do the per-hire math before the demo. At the Vendr average of $9,892, a company making 20 hires a year pays about $495 per hire in assessment software alone. At the $1,300 floor, it is $65 per hire, which is reasonable, but the floor is the exception in the data, not the rule. For a business that hires a bookkeeper in March, a dispatcher in June and two seasonal warehouse associates in November, the volume that Vervoe's model is built for simply is not there.
The second mismatch is role variety. AI ranking gets better as more people take the same simulation. Nine different roles a year means nine tiny samples and a lot of setup per role. If some of that work is a short project rather than a permanent position, you may not need hiring software for it at all; a freelancer marketplace gets a three-month job staffed without a screening funnel. For the roles you do hire, a generator that writes a role-specific knowledge test from the posting in a minute, at a flat monthly price, is the better-shaped tool.
Vervoe alternatives with published pricing
Every figure below was read on the vendor's own pricing page, except where noted. Read the annual number, because two of the vendors quote a monthly figure that is only sold on a yearly commitment.
| Tool | Entry paid plan | Billed per year | How volume is charged | Where it wins |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Vervoe | Quote only | $1,300 to $17,000, average $9,892 (Vendr) | Candidate volume, assessments, users, integrations | AI-ranked work simulations at volume, enterprise controls |
| TestGorilla | $142 a month, annual only | $1,704 | 1 credit per candidate on Core, 2 seats, 5 custom questions | Largest library of validated tests, free 10-credit tier |
| Testlify | $139 a month equivalent | $1,668 | 100 credits a year, $21 per extra credit | Validated library, 30-day money back, no sales call |
| Assessing.ai | $49 a month, no contract | $288 on the annual plan | 500 responses a month on Starter, no credits | Role-specific tests you edit, drafted by AI from the posting on Plus ($149 a month), flat price |
Assessing.ai is the cheapest row and the most limited one, and the limits are worth stating plainly: there is no validated test library, no proctoring, no native ATS connector, and written and recorded answers are scored by you in the results view rather than by AI. What you get is a test that asks about your software, your customers and your process, ready before your coffee cools, on a plan you can cancel any month. That is the trade for a small team; our Vervoe alternative page compares it with Vervoe feature by feature, including who should stay. The pre-employment testing software for small business page walks through it role by role. If your objection to Vervoe is specifically the annual contract, the TestGorilla alternative page covers the same decision for the other big annual-only vendor, and the AI assessment software comparison puts six platforms side by side.
Vervoe feature comparison with the main alternatives
Price is only half of the decision. This table compares the features buyers ask about most, using each vendor's own product and pricing pages plus the directory listings named above. Where a vendor page is silent, the cell says so.
| Feature | Vervoe | TestGorilla | TestDome | Assessing.ai |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Published price | No, demo first | Yes, Core $1,704 a year | Yes, $7 to $20 per candidate | Yes, $49 to $499 a month |
| Monthly billing | No | No, annual only | Prepaid packs, no subscription | Yes, no contract |
| AI grading of open and recorded answers | Yes, the core product | Library tests auto-scored | Tasks auto-scored | No, your team scores them |
| Work simulations | Yes | Role tests from a library | Coding and office tasks | Questions about your own job |
| Proctoring | Not listed on the pricing page | Anti-cheating measures | Webcam and screen | None |
| ATS integrations | Yes, plus Workday and SuccessFactors on Enterprise | Yes, on Plus | Yes | No, one share link |
| Test drafted from your job description | Custom simulations | 5 custom questions on Core | AI test creation | Yes, by AI on Plus |
The pattern is simple. Vervoe wins when you need AI to rank hundreds of open answers for one role and you have the budget for an enterprise contract. Every tool in the other three columns is cheaper than Vervoe at small volumes, and the right one depends on whether you want a library, pay-per-candidate packs, or a test written about your own job.
What are alternatives to Vervoe?
The main alternatives to Vervoe are TestGorilla and Testlify for validated test libraries on annual plans, TestDome for prepaid per-candidate packs, Criteria Corp for cognitive testing on a quoted contract, and Assessing.ai for job-specific tests on a $49 to $149 monthly plan. Which one fits depends on hiring volume and whether you need AI grading of open answers.
Does Vervoe have a free trial?
Vervoe's Capterra listing says a free trial is available and no credit card is required, and older reviews describe a 7-day trial. The current vendor pricing page does not mention a trial; the only path it offers is booking a demo. Ask for trial access during the demo call. There is no free version of Vervoe.
Is Vervoe worth it for a small business?
Usually not, unless you hire many people into one role and want AI to rank them by a work simulation. For a small business making a handful of varied hires a year, the Vendr average of roughly $10,000 works out to hundreds of dollars per hire for volume features you will not use. A flat $49-a-month tool that writes a role-specific test from the posting covers the screening step at a fraction of the cost, and you can check the plan limits on the pricing page before you sign up.
How does Vervoe pricing compare to TestGorilla?
TestGorilla publishes its prices and Vervoe does not. TestGorilla Core is $1,704 a year for 2 seats and a credit per candidate; Vervoe contracts run $1,300 to $17,000 with an average near $9,892 per Vendr. At the low end they overlap, but a typical Vervoe deal is several times TestGorilla's entry plan, because Vervoe sells AI-ranked simulations and enterprise integrations rather than a self-serve test library.
What is the best Vervoe alternative?
For a small business, the best Vervoe alternative is a tool with a published monthly price and job-specific tests. Assessing.ai drafts a test from your job description on Plus and costs $49 to $149 a month with no contract. TestGorilla Core ($1,704 a year) suits library testing, and TestDome ($7 to $20 per candidate) suits developer hiring. Our Vervoe alternatives comparison covers all of them.
