Short answer: Spark Hire's one-way video interview product starts at $249 a month billed annually (unlimited jobs and users) or $299 a month paid monthly (up to 5 jobs and 5 users). The behavioral assessment is a separate subscription at the same starting prices. The applicant tracking system starts at $335 a month on Recruit Pro and $499 a month on Recruit Growth, annual contract only. Every price on the page says "starting at" and scales with company size.
That makes the realistic yearly budget $2,988 for video interviews alone on the annual plan, $3,588 if you pay month to month, and roughly $6,000 once you add the behavioral assessment or move to Recruit Growth. The sections below show where each figure comes from, what the plans include, what pushes a quote up, and what the same money buys elsewhere if your real goal is to screen applicants before anyone books a call.
Spark Hire pricing at a glance
All figures below come from Spark Hire's own pricing page. It is one of the few vendors in this category that shows prices without a demo.

| Video Interviews, annual | $249 a month | Billed annually | Unlimited jobs, unlimited users, customer success manager |
| Behavioral Assessment, monthly | $299 a month | Month to month | Up to 5 jobs, up to 5 users, unlimited assessments |
| Behavioral Assessment, annual | $249 a month | Billed annually | Unlimited jobs and users |
| Recruit Pro (ATS) | $335 a month | Annual contract only | Companies up to 200 employees; includes video interviews and reference checks |
| Recruit Growth (ATS) | $499 a month | Annual contract only | Companies up to 500 employees; adds the behavioral assessment |

The ATS prices apply to companies with up to 50 employees. Above that, Spark Hire says pricing scales with employee count and asks you to contact sales.
How much does Spark Hire cost per year?
Spark Hire costs $2,988 a year for the video interview product on the annual plan, or $3,588 if you pay $299 a month for twelve months. Adding the behavioral assessment as a second subscription doubles that to about $5,976 a year. Recruit Pro works out to $4,020 a year and Recruit Growth to $5,988, both before add-ons and both for companies under 50 employees.
| Setup | Monthly | Yearly |
|---|---|---|
| Video Interviews, paid monthly | $299 | $3,588 |
| Video Interviews, annual plan | $249 | $2,988 |
| Video Interviews + Behavioral Assessment, annual | $498 | $5,976 |
| Recruit Pro | $335 | $4,020 |
| Recruit Growth | $499 | $5,988 |
Because the video product includes unlimited interviews, cost per candidate falls fast with volume. At 300 candidates a year on the annual plan it is about $10 each; at 60 candidates it is about $50 each. A company that hires twice a year pays the same as one that hires every week.
What each Spark Hire plan includes
The video interview product covers the full one-way workflow: a branded candidate portal with intro and outro videos, recorded or uploaded video questions, custom think time, retake limits and answer length, invites by link, SMS or CSV, automated reminders and deadline extensions, scorecards, bulk sharing with hiring managers who do not need to sign in, 40+ ATS integrations, Zapier and a Chrome extension. The AI features on the page transcribe interviews in 50+ languages, summarize responses and score submissions against key factors.
Three things are marked annual only: live training and onboarding, the customer success manager, and downloading interviews. If you expect to keep video files after the contract ends, that last one matters.
Paid add-ons on the video product are API access, single sign-on and additional brands. On the ATS, API access and SSO are add-ons on Pro and Growth and included on Enterprise.
What pushes a Spark Hire quote up
- Company size. Every price is "starting at" and "varies by company size". The published numbers are the floor.
- Monthly billing. Paying month to month costs $50 more per month and caps you at 5 jobs and 5 users.
- A second product. The behavioral assessment is its own subscription unless you are on Recruit Growth or Enterprise.
- Add-ons. API access, SSO and extra brands are priced separately.
- Refunds. Spark Hire's FAQ says it does not offer refunds because service starts when you pay, with no exceptions. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the term.
Is Spark Hire worth it for a small business?
Spark Hire is worth it when you hire often enough to use unlimited interviews and you want candidates on video before the first call. It is harder to justify for a small business with a few openings a year, because the monthly plan still costs $299 and the cheaper $249 rate requires a year upfront with no refund. At low volume you pay mostly for idle months.
There is also a question of what you are screening for. A one-way video tells you how someone presents. It says less about whether a bookkeeper can reconcile an account or a dispatcher can prioritize five urgent tickets. Many small employers find that a short job test, with one or two recorded answers for the soft skills, answers both questions in one step.
Spark Hire alternatives compared on price
| Tool | Price | Contract | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Spark Hire Video Interviews | $249 a month annual, $299 monthly | Monthly or annual, no refunds | Unlimited one-way and live video interviews with AI summaries |
| Assessing.ai Starter | $49 a month, or $288 a year | Monthly, no contract, 14-day money-back | Job-specific tests with audio or video recorded answers, 500 responses a month |
| Assessing.ai Plus | $149 a month, or $888 a year | Monthly, no contract, 14-day money-back | AI drafts the test from a job description, 2,000 responses a month |
| TestGorilla Core | $142 a month, billed $1,704 a year | Annual | Validated skills library; AI interviews use 2 credits each |
| Vervoe | Quote; Vendr range $1,300 to $17,000 a year | Annual | Job simulations with video responses |
Spark Hire wins if video is the whole screen and you want a polished candidate portal, live interviews and a large integration list. If you want to see skills and a spoken answer in one link, a test with a recorded question is the cheaper route. Our pre-employment assessment software pricing table puts eleven vendors side by side on cost per candidate, and the TestGorilla pricing breakdown covers the library vendor most Spark Hire buyers also look at.
A flat monthly option with recorded answers
Assessing.ai is built for the small employer with one posting and 140 applicants. You describe the role, and on Plus the AI drafts multiple choice, written and recorded answer questions for it. You edit anything that does not sound like your business, then send one link. Multiple choice answers are scored the moment a candidate submits. Audio and video recorded answers, available from Starter, land in the same results view, where your team scores them and can request a transcript of any recording.
So instead of watching 140 videos, you watch the recordings of the twelve people who passed the skills questions. The pre-employment testing software for small business page shows that setup as a first screen and covers the US legal basics of testing applicants.
The honest limits: Assessing.ai has no live video interviews, no ATS, no reference checks, no behavioral assessment and no proctoring. If you need those in one contract, Spark Hire is the stronger buy. If the role is remote, post it on a remote job board first and send every applicant the same test link; with a flat price, testing 300 people costs the same as testing 30.
Frequently asked questions
How much does Spark Hire cost?
Spark Hire's video interview product starts at $249 a month billed annually, about $2,988 a year, or $299 a month on monthly billing with up to 5 jobs and 5 users. The behavioral assessment costs the same as a separate subscription. The ATS starts at $335 a month (Pro) or $499 a month (Growth), annual only.
Does Spark Hire have a free trial?
Spark Hire's pricing page offers "Get started now" on the monthly plan and a demo for annual plans, and does not advertise a free trial. Because it does not offer refunds, the monthly plan at $299 is effectively the trial. Assessing.ai has a 14-day money-back guarantee on every paid plan.
Can I pay for Spark Hire month to month?
Yes, for video interviews and the behavioral assessment. Monthly billing costs $299 a month and limits you to 5 jobs and 5 users at a time. The applicant tracking system (Recruit Pro, Growth and Enterprise) is sold only on an annual contract or longer.
Does Spark Hire charge per interview?
No. Every video interview plan includes unlimited one-way and live interviews. You pay a flat subscription, so the cost per candidate depends on how many people you interview in the year: about $10 each at 300 candidates on the annual plan and about $50 each at 60.
Is Spark Hire free for candidates?
Yes. Spark Hire's FAQ says pricing applies only to employers, and applicants do not need a plan to record an interview. The same is true on Assessing.ai: candidates open the link and answer without creating an account.
What is a cheaper alternative to Spark Hire?
For a small business that wants recorded answers plus a job skills test, Assessing.ai Starter costs $49 a month with no contract and includes audio and video recorded answer questions. It does not replace Spark Hire's live interviews or ATS. TestGorilla and Vervoe offer video responses too, on annual plans, and Willo pricing starts at $59 per live role a month with no contract.
