Short answer: Testlify's Standard plan costs $1,668 a year, which Testlify presents as $139 a month, and it includes 100 candidate credits for the whole year. Every extra credit is $21. Three user seats are included, extra seats are $15 a month each, and white label or ATS integrations are $2,388 a year apiece. Unused credits expire at the end of the billing cycle. Those figures come from Testlify's own pricing page, not a software directory.
The number that decides whether Testlify is a good deal is not $1,668. It is how many candidates you will put through a test in the next twelve months, because 100 credits is a much smaller allowance than it sounds once a single job post pulls in a few hundred applicants.
Testlify pricing plans in 2026
| Plan | Price | Credits | Seats | What stands out |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Standard | $1,668 a year ($139 a month equivalent) | 100 a year, about $16.68 each | 3 included, $15 a month per extra seat | Full test library, 7-day free trial with no card, 30-day money-back guarantee, base price locked for 24 months |
| Custom | Quote only | Sized to volume | Custom | For organizations assessing 25,000+ candidates a year. Adds SSO, advanced proctoring, ID verification, regional data storage, support SLAs and a dedicated success manager |
Testlify has simplified its lineup. Several software directories still list older tier names such as Starter, Basic, Business and Premium with different monthly prices. Testlify's own page currently shows a single Standard plan and a Custom plan, so treat any directory figure as out of date and quote the vendor page in your budget request.
What counts as a Testlify credit
One credit is spent when a candidate starts an assessment. Testlify's wording is that you pay when a qualified candidate starts, one credit per started assessment. Creating tests, editing them and inviting people does not cost anything. Starting does.
That detail matters more than the price. A candidate who opens the link, answers two questions and closes the tab has used a credit. If you put the test in a job ad that draws 200 applicants, you can burn through the full year's allowance on one role before lunch on day two.
Credits also do not carry over. Testlify states that unused credits expire at the end of the billing cycle, so a slow hiring year is money gone rather than a balance you get to use next year.
Testlify cost per candidate at real hiring volumes
Here is what Standard works out to per candidate once extra credits are added at $21 each. This assumes annual billing and one assessment per candidate.
| Candidates tested in a year | Extra credits needed | Total yearly cost | Cost per candidate |
|---|---|---|---|
| 50 | 0 | $1,668 | $33.36 |
| 100 | 0 | $1,668 | $16.68 |
| 250 | 150 | $4,818 | $19.27 |
| 400 | 300 | $7,968 | $19.92 |
| 1,000 | 900 | $20,568 | $20.57 |
Two things jump out. Below 100 candidates you are paying for credits you will not use, and above 100 the price per person barely falls, because every extra credit costs more than an included one. There is no volume discount on the published plan. At 25,000 candidates a year Testlify points you to the Custom plan, but most small and midsize US employers never get near that line.
If you also want candidate data flowing into Greenhouse, Lever or another ATS, add $2,388 for the integrations add-on. A team of five reviewers adds $360 a year in seats. Those two alone take a 100-candidate year from $1,668 to $4,416.
Add-ons that change the Testlify bill
- Extra seats: $15 a month each beyond the 3 included, which is $180 a year per person.
- White label: $2,388 a year to put your branding on the candidate experience.
- ATS integrations: $2,388 a year for access to Testlify's 100+ integrations.
- AI phone interviews: $0.18 per minute. A 15-minute screening call is $2.70 on top of the assessment credit.
Extra credits are billed monthly to the card on file, so a busy hiring month shows up as a charge that month rather than at renewal.
Is Testlify worth it?
Testlify is a fair buy for a specific shape of team: steady hiring of roughly 80 to 100 candidates a year into roles its library covers well, where you want a large catalog, a trial before you pay and a 30-day refund window. The 24-month price lock is a real plus for anyone budgeting two years out.
It gets expensive in two situations. The first is spiky volume, because the included 100 credits cover one busy posting and the rest is billed at $21 a head. The second is roles the library does not match, where you pay library pricing and still write most of the useful questions yourself. That second case is where a skills assessment tool built for small business hiring tends to fit better than a catalog.
Testlify pricing compared with TestGorilla and Assessing.ai
| Tool | Entry price | Billing | How volume is charged |
|---|---|---|---|
| Testlify Standard | $1,668 a year | 7-day trial, 30-day money back | 100 credits a year, $21 per extra credit, credits expire |
| TestGorilla Core | $1,704 a year | Annual commitment only | 1 credit per candidate for skills tests, 2 for AI interviews |
| Assessing.ai Starter | $49 a month, or $288 a year | Monthly or yearly | Up to 500 responses a month, no per-candidate credits |
| Assessing.ai Plus | $149 a month, or $888 a year | Monthly or yearly | Up to 2,000 responses a month, AI question generation included |
Testlify and TestGorilla land within $36 of each other at entry, and both meter candidates. The real split is billing: TestGorilla has no monthly option on paid plans, which our TestGorilla pricing breakdown covers in detail. Assessing.ai takes a different approach, with a monthly response allowance instead of credits, and questions generated for the role rather than picked from a library.
Be clear about what that trade costs you. We do not sell validated, normed tests, and we do not offer ID verification. If you need those, Testlify or TestGorilla is the better purchase. Our single and multiple choice questions score automatically, and written and recorded answers are reviewed in the results view.
Frequently asked questions
How much does Testlify cost?
Testlify's Standard plan costs $1,668 a year, shown as $139 a month, with 100 candidate credits, 3 seats and access to the full test library. Extra credits are $21 each, extra seats are $15 a month, and the white label and ATS integration add-ons are $2,388 a year each. Larger organizations get a Custom quote.
Does Testlify have a free trial?
Yes. Testlify offers a 7-day free trial on the Standard plan with no credit card required. After you pay, there is also a 30-day money-back guarantee, which is longer than many assessment vendors offer and a genuine advantage if you are unsure the library covers your roles.
Do Testlify credits roll over?
No. Testlify states that unused credits do not roll over and expire at the end of the billing cycle. If you buy the Standard plan and test 60 candidates, the other 40 credits are gone at renewal, which is why it pays to estimate your annual candidate volume before you sign.
Is Testlify cheaper than TestGorilla?
Slightly, at entry. Testlify Standard is $1,668 a year and TestGorilla Core is $1,704 a year. The bigger difference is flexibility: TestGorilla requires an annual commitment on every paid plan, while Testlify offers a free trial first and a 30-day refund window. At higher volume, Testlify's $21 extra credit price becomes the deciding cost.
What is a cheaper alternative to Testlify?
For teams testing varied roles, Assessing.ai Starter costs $288 a year, or $49 on monthly billing, with up to 500 responses a month and no per-candidate credits. Plus adds AI question generation at $888 a year. The trade-off is no validated test library. Our TestGorilla alternative comparison lays out the same trade across more vendors.
What to do next
Count the people you will actually test this year, not the people you will hire, and run that number through the cost table above. If it lands near 100 and your roles match Testlify's catalog, Standard is a reasonable buy. If it lands at 300 with roles that change every quarter, the credit meter will cost more than the software.
And if the real bottleneck is getting enough qualified applicants into the funnel in the first place, testing is the second problem. An AI recruiter that sources and ranks matching candidates fixes the top of the pipeline, and a short role-specific test ranks whoever arrives. When you are ready to compare the rest of the market, the AI assessment software comparison puts six platforms side by side, and our plans are priced by monthly responses, not candidates.
