Short answer: the OMG (Objective Management Group) Sales Candidate Assessment costs $299 a month on the Member plan or $599 a month on the Gold Member plan, and every subscription runs for a one-year term that renews automatically. Member covers up to 150 candidates and 3 sales hires a year, Gold up to 500 candidates and 10 hires. Enterprise licenses with unlimited candidates are quoted. If you cancel early, OMG charges the lesser of the remaining payments or $275 per assessment used, minus what you already paid.
So the realistic first-year budget is $3,588 on Member and $7,188 on Gold. Whether that is a good buy depends almost entirely on how many salespeople you hire and how many applicants you want to test. The sections below lay out what the plans include, what OMG measures, what its own validity claims actually say, and what a small sales team can use instead for the first screen.
OMG sales assessment pricing plans
OMG is one of the few sales assessment vendors that shows prices on a self-serve subscription page. You can also buy through an OMG Certified Partner, usually a sales consultant who adds debriefs and coaching on top, and partner pricing is set by the partner.
| Plan | Price | Term | Sales hires a year | Candidates assessed a year |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Member | $299 a month | One year, auto-renews | Up to 3 | Up to 150 |
| Gold Member | $599 a month | One year, auto-renews | Up to 10 (sales, managers or leaders) | Up to 500 |
| Enterprise License | Quote | Negotiated | Unlimited | Unlimited |
Two details are easy to miss. First, the plan limits count hires as well as candidates, so a company that tests 100 applicants but hires five reps in a year has outgrown Member even though it used only two thirds of the candidate cap. Second, the $275 figure in the cancellation clause is the closest thing OMG publishes to a per-assessment price, and it tells you how OMG values a single test.
How much does the OMG assessment cost per candidate?
It depends on how much of the cap you use. If you run all 150 candidates on Member, the cost is about $24 per candidate. Most small sales teams do not. Here is the same $3,588 a year at the volumes small companies actually test.
| Candidates assessed in a year | Member plan, yearly | Cost per candidate |
|---|---|---|
| 150 | $3,588 | $23.92 |
| 75 | $3,588 | $47.84 |
| 30 | $3,588 | $119.60 |
| 12 | $3,588 | $299.00 |
A company that hires two reps a year and assesses six finalists for each one is paying about $300 per assessment, close to the $275 figure in the cancellation terms. At that volume, a pay-per-candidate vendor such as SalesGenomix ($249 per assessed candidate on its self-serve price list) costs about the same with no one-year commitment.
What the OMG Sales Candidate Assessment measures
OMG says its assessment measures sales capabilities rather than personality. It scores 21 Sales Core Competencies grouped into Will to Sell (5), Sales DNA (6) and Tactical Selling Competencies (10), and produces over 400 data points per salesperson. The report ends in a recommendation for the specific role you configured, so the same candidate can be recommended for a less demanding seat and not for a harder one.
The test is untimed and, according to OMG's subscription page, takes about an hour. OMG also sells a separate Sales Effectiveness and Improvement Analysis for evaluating an existing sales team, plus management and leadership candidate assessments. Those are different products from the candidate screen priced above.
OMG sales assessment reviews and validity claims
OMG publishes strong numbers, and it is worth reading them precisely. In a 2017 post, OMG founder Dave Kurlan wrote that 92% of candidates who are recommended and later hired rise to the top half of the sales force within 12 months. A 2024 article on OMG's own research blog gives a lower figure from a newer analysis: 72% of recommended candidates who were hired ranked in the top half, all not-recommended hires were bottom-half performers, and first-year turnover was 9% for recommended hires against 33% for not-recommended ones.
These are vendor-reported outcomes, not independent peer-reviewed validity studies, and the two figures do not match. They still point the same way: the recommendation correlates with performance in OMG's client data. Independent reviews are thin. OMG has no Capterra or Software Advice listing, and the review-site presence is small, so most of what you will read comes from OMG partners. Ask a partner for references from companies your size before you sign a year.
Is the OMG assessment worth it for a small business?
It is worth it when a bad sales hire is expensive and you hire several reps a year. If a mis-hire costs you six months of base salary plus a lost territory, $3,588 is small, and a role-specific recommendation on each finalist is useful. It is harder to justify when you hire one or two reps a year, because the price is a full year of subscription either way.
The other limit is the first screen. A one-hour assessment is a lot to ask of 60 applicants for an SDR seat, and at $275 per assessment you would not send it to all of them anyway. Most small teams need something short and cheap for everyone, then a deeper look at the finalists. Sometimes the honest answer is that the gap is pipeline rather than headcount, and an AI cold calling service covers first-touch calls while you hire more slowly.
Cheaper alternatives to the OMG sales assessment
Prices below come from each vendor's own pricing page unless the cell says otherwise.
| Tool | Price | Commitment | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| OMG Member | $299 a month | One year | Sales-specific hire recommendation on up to 150 candidates |
| SalesGenomix | $249 per assessed candidate | None on self-serve | Occasional sales hires, 14 sales roles |
| SalesDrive DriveTest | $320 per test, 10 for $2,800 | Packs valid one year | A 20-minute test of sales drive |
| Criteria SalesAP | Quote; Vendr median for Criteria $13,225 a year | Annual | A 10-minute sales personality screen bundled with cognitive tests |
| TestGorilla Core | $1,704 a year | Annual | Library tests including a 10-minute Sales Aptitude test |
| Assessing.ai | $49 to $149 a month | Monthly, no contract | Testing every applicant on your own objections, plus a recorded voice pitch |
Assessing.ai is not a sales psychometric, and it does not replace OMG's competency model. It is a test about your job: on Plus, the AI drafts scenario questions from your job post, choice answers score themselves, and each applicant records a short voice pitch your sales manager rates from the results view. That makes it the cheap first layer, and our sales assessment test for hiring page shows how teams set it up for SDR, account executive and inside sales roles. Plans and limits are on the pricing page.
If you are also weighing behavioral tools, the Predictive Index cost breakdown covers the other common choice for sales teams, and the pre-employment assessment software pricing table compares eleven general testing vendors on cost per candidate.
How long is the OMG sales assessment?
OMG's subscription page says the online assessment takes about an hour. It is untimed, so candidates can take longer, but OMG has written that unusually fast or slow completion lowers the confidence of the findings. Plan for a full hour and send it to finalists rather than every applicant.
Can you fail the OMG sales assessment?
Not in the pass or fail sense. OMG says there are no wrong answers, and the result is a recommendation for the specific role, so a candidate can be recommended for one seat and not for a harder one. OMG also warns that trying to game the test produces inconsistent answers, which the report flags.
Is there a free trial of the OMG assessment?
The subscription page does not offer a free trial; plans start on payment with a one-year term. OMG does offer a free sample report through a request form, which is the best way to judge whether the output is useful before you commit. Certified partners sometimes arrange a trial assessment, so ask the partner directly.
Does OMG have a monthly plan without a contract?
No. The Member and Gold plans are billed monthly, but every subscription has a one-year term that renews for another year, and early cancellation costs the lesser of the remaining payments or $275 per assessment used minus what you paid. If you need month-to-month billing, use a pay-per-candidate vendor or a monthly tool for the first screen.
