Short answer: PXT Select costs about $295 per assessment when you buy 1 to 9, falling to $250, $200 and $175 per assessment at higher volumes, according to price lists published by authorized PXT Select partners. Organizations that test a lot of people can instead license unlimited assessments, with pricing that starts at $7,500 a year. PXT Select is a Wiley product sold only through authorized partners, so the exact tiers vary a little from one partner to the next, but every candidate's fee includes the full set of reports for that person.
If a consultant has recommended PXT Select for your next hire, or you are comparing it with the Predictive Index or Caliper, this page lays out what each tier costs, what the fee buys, the cost per hire at real volumes and where a cheaper job test does the screening better. Every price is labeled with its source, because Wiley does not publish one itself.
PXT Select cost at a glance
| How you buy | Price | Source |
|---|---|---|
| 1 to 9 assessments | $295 each | Corexcel and Center for Internal Change price lists |
| 10 to 24 assessments | $250 each | Corexcel and Center for Internal Change |
| 25 to 99 assessments | $200 each | Corexcel and Center for Internal Change |
| 100 or more assessments | $175 each | Corexcel and Center for Internal Change |
| Alternative partner tiers | $295 for 1 to 34, $250 for 35 to 99, $200 for 100+ | People and Performance Strategies |
| Unlimited license | From $7,500 a year, set by projected usage | Center for Internal Change |
| Reports per candidate | Full report suite included, 13 reports per assessment | Partner FAQs, pxtselect.com |
The practical reading: if you will test fewer than about 25 people a year, budget $250 to $295 per person. Past roughly 30 to 40 assessments a year, the unlimited license starts to compete with buying units, so ask the partner for both quotes before you commit.
What the PXT Select price includes
PXT Select measures three things in one sitting. The thinking style section covers verbal skill, verbal reasoning, numerical ability and numerical reasoning. The behavioral section scores nine traits such as pace, assertiveness, sociability, conformity and decisiveness. The interests section scores six occupational interests, from technical and creative to financial and administrative. Wiley also describes a distortion scale that flags answers that look inauthentic.
The test is untimed and uses computer adaptive testing, which adjusts question difficulty to earlier answers. Partners put the typical completion time at about 45 to 60 minutes. Once a candidate finishes, the fee unlocks every report for that person, including the Comprehensive Selection report, a Multiple Candidates report, a Coaching report, the Performance Model report and a Manager-Employee report, and those reports stay available if you hire the person.
That last point matters for budgeting. With Hogan or Caliper you often pay again for a development or coaching report later. With PXT Select, the coaching and manager reports are already paid for when you assess the candidate.
PXT Select cost per hire at real volumes
Because PXT Select is priced per person assessed, the number that matters is how many people you test for each hire. Most employers run it on finalists. The table assumes three finalists per hire.
| Hires a year | Assessments | Tier price | Yearly cost | Per hire |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 3 | 9 | $295 | $2,655 | $885 |
| 6 | 18 | $250 | $4,500 | $750 |
| 12 | 36 | $200 | $7,200 | $600 |
| 25 | 75 | $200 | $15,000 | $600 |
| 40 | 120 | $175 or license from $7,500 | $21,000 by unit, or about $7,500+ licensed | $525, or from about $188 |
Two things stand out. First, at 25 or more hires a year, buying units costs far more than the starting license price, so the license conversation is worth having early. Second, if you tried to give PXT Select to every applicant instead of finalists, 80 applicants for one job would cost $16,000 at the $200 tier. That is why nobody uses a one-hour, per-person assessment as a first screen.
Fees and terms to ask the partner about
- Which tier table applies. Partners publish slightly different breakpoints (25 to 99 at one, 35 to 99 at another). Ask whether units must be bought in one order to get the lower price or whether volume is counted over the year.
- Unit expiry. Ask whether unused assessments expire, and when.
- Performance models. Matching a candidate to a job pattern is the core of the selection report. Ask whether building custom performance models for your roles is included or billed as consulting.
- Interpretation and training. PXT Select does not require certification the way Hogan does, but partners often sell debriefs, workshops or account management. Get those prices in writing.
- License minimums. For the unlimited option, ask for the term, the usage assumption behind the quote and what happens at renewal if you hire more than projected.
PXT Select pricing next to the alternatives
| Tool | Price | Length | Best used for |
|---|---|---|---|
| PXT Select | $175 to $295 per assessment, license from $7,500 a year | About 45 to 60 minutes | Finalists, when you want cognitive, behavior and interests in one test |
| Hogan | Certification $3,050 per person; Candidate Summary $170 at a US distributor | About 15 to 20 minutes per inventory | Leadership and executive finalists |
| Caliper Profile | About $265 per profile commonly quoted; subscriptions by quote | 60 to 75 minutes | Sales and management finalists |
| Predictive Index Talent | From $10,000 a year | About 6 minutes behavioral, 12 cognitive | Companies of 50 to 500+ that want self-serve software |
| Assessing AI | $49 or $149 a month, no contract | As long as you set it, usually 10 to 20 minutes | Screening every applicant on the actual job tasks |
PXT Select is the only one of the long personality-plus-aptitude assessments with per-candidate prices you can read before a sales call. If your consultant is also pitching Hogan, our Hogan assessment alternatives page compares the certification route with these options, and the Caliper assessment cost breakdown covers Caliper's per-profile and subscription pricing. A cheaper first screen before PXT Select
The most common way to cut the PXT Select bill is to stop sending it to people who cannot do the job. A short skills test on the real tasks of the role, sent to every applicant, narrows 60 or 80 people to the three or four worth an hour of assessment and a few hundred dollars each.
That is what Assessing AI is for. You describe the role, the AI drafts multiple choice, written and recorded answer questions for it (AI drafting is on the Plus plan), you edit anything that does not fit your business and you put one link in the job post. Choice answers are scored on submit, your team scores written and recorded answers in one view, and you sort everyone by score. Starter costs $49 a month and Plus $149 a month, both with no contract, and you can cancel anytime from your account, so a three-month hiring push costs $147 to $447 regardless of how many people apply. Our pre-employment assessment software pricing page compares cost per candidate across 11 more vendors.
If your bottleneck is getting enough qualified people to apply in the first place, an AI recruiter that sources and ranks candidates fills the top of the funnel, and the test and the finalist profile do the rest.
The honest limits: Assessing AI has no normed personality or aptitude model, no live or video proctoring and no AI grading of written answers. If you want a validated profile of a finalist with coaching reports for after the hire, PXT Select does that and we do not. Many employers use both: our test for everyone, PXT Select for the last three.
PXT Select cost questions
How much does PXT Select cost?
PXT Select costs about $295 per assessment for 1 to 9 assessments, $250 for 10 to 24, $200 for 25 to 99 and $175 for 100 or more, based on authorized partner price lists. An unlimited annual license starts at about $7,500 a year, priced on projected usage.
Is PXT Select a subscription or pay per assessment?
Both. Wiley describes subscription plans, pay-as-you-go and custom pricing. Small employers usually buy assessment units from a partner, while heavier users license unlimited assessments for a yearly fee. All options include the full report suite for each person assessed.
How long does the PXT Select assessment take?
Most candidates finish in about 45 to 60 minutes. The assessment is untimed and adaptive, so question difficulty changes with earlier answers and some people finish sooner. Partners recommend taking it in one sitting.
How many reports come with PXT Select?
Each assessment includes the full PXT Select report suite, which partners count as 13 reports, covering selection, multiple candidates, coaching, manager and employee relationships, leadership and teams. The reports stay available for that person after hire at no extra charge.
Where can I buy PXT Select?
PXT Select is sold only through Wiley's network of authorized partners, such as HR consultancies and assessment distributors. Prices are set by each partner, so compare two partner quotes and ask whether volume pricing is counted per order or over the year.
Is PXT Select the same as Everything DiSC?
No. Both are Wiley products, but Everything DiSC is a team development tool and Wiley tells customers not to use it to screen candidates. PXT Select is the Wiley assessment built for selection. DiSC costs less, about $73.50 to $90 per profile (see our DISC test cost breakdown), and our page on DISC assessment for hiring covers where it fits in a hiring process.
Is PXT Select cheaper than the Predictive Index?
For low volumes, yes. Twelve finalists a year at $250 each is $3,000, while the Predictive Index Talent plan starts at $10,000 a year. At high volume the gap closes, because PXT Select's unlimited license starts around $7,500 a year and PI includes unlimited behavioral assessments.
